Photography and Graphic Design

I love incorporating personal photography, both mine and others, in my design work as much as I can. Whether it is the apparent use of a photo taking center stage, a subtle abstract touch of it in the background, or a series of photos inspiring a full project, it brings a greater level of personal touch to the visual messaging and artwork.

Fattoria San Martino

Fattoria San Martino

I did this landing page redesign for organic farm and villa in Montepulciano Italy.  The pictures coincide with the navigation for a visual storytelling experience.  This was my gift to the owner in appreciation of the most incredible "off the highway" scenic, local directions she gave us to head south to Amalfi.

911 Memorial and Museum

I worked on this for a digital producer looking to pitch a subway ad campaign for the 911 Memorial and Museum focusing on the memory and tribute of the people who lost their lives.

'Be Exemplary' Coaching

'Be Exemplary' Coaching

Career and life coach Julie Smith asked me to consult on her Be Exemplary website and to photograph her for the bio section.

Because NYC

Because NYC

I was asked to design a landing page for an art meetup group on the lower east side that looked like a gritty older version of New York.  I remembered I had this photograph of Freeman's that had really incredible lighting without any post production adjustments.  The composition of the background combined with the centered funneling text leads the user's eye to the submit button.

Interface Cover Letters

Interface Cover Letters

I was trying to get the attention of the Design Director at Spotify for a job I was interested, so I used the actual Spotify interface to create my cover letter.  Using both stock and my own photography in certain areas, as well as hitting the tiniest of details, like my name in the URL. I was informed by the hiring manager that "it was one of the best uses of their interface for a resume or cover letter."

I did the same approach for Birchbox.  This time, I photographed my actual birchbox and used that as the main photo, then recreated the design of the copy inserts with all of my information.

The Lovely Event Promos

The Lovely Event Promos

I used a photograph of my own guitar for a subtle background for a text heavy event flier for The Lovely.

For the Local 269 event, I used a black and white photograph of one of the female performers to structure the color and text design of that event poster.
